Goods and Services | Health and Fitness: The Dynamic Warmup Movement Assessment (DWMA) combines the specific advantages of a traditional dynamic warm-up and incorporates unique movement patterns designed to identify left-right, agonist-antagonist imbalances and weaknesses in an athlete's kinetic chain. The Kinetic Chain is defined as a linked system of interdependent segments working together to produce a desired movement. In human movement one segment cannot move without affecting another segment. It is like the childhood song says, "the leg bone is connected to the hip bone, and hip bone is connected to the back bone". When a part of the Kinetic Chain is imbalanced, weak or damaged, it will affect other segments. For the athlete, weakness and imbalance can distort motor learning, movement perception, body awareness, and mechanics. This robs the body of efficiency, which limits optimal performance while increasing the potential for over-training, stress-reactions, and non-contact related injuries. The DWMA improves and restores basic movement and athletic performance. It is designed to identify the athlete's physical imbalances and weaknesses. Once this is done, simple, corrective exercises are assigned to rehabilitate imbalances and strengthen weaknesses. By adopting the DWMA and Kinetic Chain Corrective Exercises protocol, coaches will be able to evaluate an athlete's training needs, select and assign exercises that can best provide it, and better individualize an athlete's training program. Currently the system is available on DVD but will be changed in 30-days to an electronic, web-based subscription service |
