Dividing the two ribbons, running across the middle of the design, and extending slightly outside of the design's regular circumference, is the word "Merengue" in a stylized font. Exactly over the word merengue, and below the ribbon running on the inner upper part of the stamp, is a dark figure, resembling a man, and a light figure, resembling a woman, dancing together and holding hands up in the air.
