A non-woven fabric web comprised of a single layer, or muliple-layers, of axially oriented reinforcing fiber including but not limited to a fiber of aramid, basalt, carbon, glass or graphite impregnated with a thermoplastic polymer binder or other binder material for use as a low-binder reinforcement preform in combination with a polymer matrix material or alone as a thermoplastic prepreg composite material
