List of certification standards-- Each steer and heifer harvested for Iowa-80 Beef animals is (1) verified to be sired by a 100% Angus bull, (2) source verified to the farm of birth using an identification system with a unique number that identifies the animal throughout the production process, (3) fed in Iowa for a minimum of 180 days, (4) fed a high-concentrate ration that totals at least 75 percent corn or corn co-products over the feeding period, and (5) age verified and processed at 18 months of age or less. All Iowa-80 Beef animals and beef products are segregated and labeled and product identity is retained throughout harvest and processing. All beef carcasses meet the quality standards for USDA grades upper one-third Choice or Prime. |
