Description of Mark | The mark consists of a frame with three concentric coaxial ovals, hereinafter described as inner, middle, and outer bands. The space between the outer and middle band contains the words "Fort Gordon," the first two words of the organization title, are emblazoned in lettering, all capitalized, in the top middle, centered. Within the space between the outer and middle bands, bottom middle centered, are the words "Historical Museum Society," denoting the final three words of the organization's title. These letters are all capitalized, and in slightly smaller font than the words "Fort Gordon" at top. Within the space between the outer and middle bands, located on the right and left, centered along the right and left sides and evenly spaced, are three stars. These stars signify that the military installation after which the organization is named hosts a three-star general as the highest-ranking officer on base. The width of the space between the middle and inner bands is the most narrow and a solid ring shaded differently than the outer and inner ovals to accent separation. The space within the innermost band is the largest and is shaded differently to contrast the background. Within the innermost shaded band are symbols which include the following: In the center background, in a lighter shade than the background itself, is an academic institution column structure. The top of the structure consists of an isosceles triangle with a long base bottom. The base of the triangle sits atop a rectangle which extends the length of the triangle base and similar in shading. Immediately below the rectangle base, but not attached, are four tuscan columns. There is slightly more space between the two inner columns than between the two outer columns. Below these columns but not attached is a long rectangle which parallels the rectangle above, extending the same length. The columns and rectangle are the same shade as the triangle and rectangle at top; Imposed across this structure are the figures of three soldiers, centered and evenly spaced, located in the bottom three-quarters of the space within the inner band. The left figure is standing, facing left, wearing a helmet, combat boots and uniform, backpack, and carrying a WWI rifle with bayonet that is facing left. The center figure is positioned slightly lower than the left figure, wearing modern combat headgear, facing right, holding a walkie talkie near the face. The figure on the right is position. |
