Description of Mark | The mark consists of a fanciful design on a box for playing cards. The obverse face of the box includes stylized branches or vines braided into the shape of a single, large, upward-pointing spade or pike. In the center of the spade is a circular seal with a scalloped edge, with the legends "THE GUILD OF ARTISANS" along the upper curve, "THE U.S. PLAYING CARD CO." along the lower curve, and "THEORY" and "ELEVEN" on horizontal ribbons extending outward from the edge of the seal to the left and right, respectively. In the center of the seal are two stylized hammers, crossed, with a star beneath them between their handles. Above the seal, within the spade, is an arched banner containing the stylized term "ARTISAN" in a double-line font. The reverse face of the box is rotationally symmetric about its center, such that all design elements described below are doubled, and includes a beveling visual effect around its edge. A vertical banner with the text "PER ARDUA AD ALTA" runs up the upper left side, and a vertical banner with the text "SINE LABORE NIHIL" runs down the upper right side. A scalloped seal sits above the center of the face with the edge of the scalloping tangent to the center of the face. A concentric circle is around the seal and intersects the symmetric circle surrounding the seal of the rotated bottom half of the reverse face. Within the seal, an overlapping "G" and chevron representing an "A" are centered within a starburst, surrounded by 13 small stars, surrounded by solid, dotted, and solid circular lines, respectively. Above the seal, an arched banner reads "THE GUILD OF ARTISANS". To the left of and below the seal, centered vertically within the reverse face as a whole, another seal with two concentric spirographic designs contains the letter "T" superimposed on top of the number "11" at its center. Stylized designs of curved branches, diamonds, and overlapping ellipses fill the open space outside the seals and banners. An upper face of the box contains the stylized text "ARTISAN" in a double-line font, and a flap of the upper face that rests under the reverse face in the constructed box reproduces the overlapping "G" and chevron of the reverse face seals. The dotted outline of the box shows the relative position of the mark for which registration is sought on the packaging of the goods, and is not a part of the mark. |
