Description of Mark | The mark consists of of the number 360, a unique drawing sequence that I use to distinguish my works of art, and the word “crafts” spelled with upper case “K”, lower case “ra”, and capital letters “FTS”; all this encased in a tilted ellipse interrupted by a circle on the top right with its shadow left and under it. The 360 symbolizes the wide range of crafts that will eventually be represented by this mark . The letters “Kra” are my initials and “FTS”stands for “future trainers status” (how I view my customers) as it is my dream that whatever my customers learn from my books they will use to teach crafts to future generations. The drawing sequence, is a hidden message to myself. It means God’s infinite love. That is why the path of the butterfly forms an infinite symbol, and the butterfly looks like a heart. The line-art finishes with two little lines. The first line forms a “t” with the main line creating a cross and the second line represents the step at the feet of the cross where I found love, forgiveness and acceptance. The butterfly represents the change of coming from extreme poverty into being able to sustain myself and the strength that it requires to escape from its chrysalis reminds me of my own difficult journey into freedom. Finally, the ellipse represents the nature of creativity. The ellipse does not have defined corners; is continuous, and does not constrain itself evenly to and anchor, vortex, or center. In my experience this properties align with creativity. The ellipse is tilted at an unusual degree, to represent the unconventional process of creating and the little bit of craziness that often describes designers. The circle interrupting the flow of the ellipse is placed intentionally on the top right corner of the number 360, to represent a degree symbol. This allows the customers to interpret the intent behind the number. The shadow gives the illusion of floating. This represents the sensation of floating or “having your head in the clouds” through the creative process. |
