| Description of Mark | The mark consists of The mark contains an upside down anchor. In the middle of the anchor is a road, containing 13 road lines, representing Rhode Island as the 13th state to join the United States. To the left of the road is the left side of the anchor, within which the word Rhode appears. To the right, and within what would be a gap in the anchor, is a modified capital R such that the slanted part of the R is modified to represent the state of Rhode Island as it would appear on a map. This R represents the first R in the trademark that is being applied for, Rhode Raised. To the right of the aforementioned road, and where a gap would be, is another capital R, which represents the second R in the trademark being applied for, Rhode Raised. To the right of the second capital R and within the anchor is the word Raised. At the bottom of the upside down anchor (sometimes called the anchor's ring and or head) where the road ends is a gap representing a beach that also includes a sun (a double meaning because it also signifies where the rope in the anchor would go through) waves and two seagulls, paying homage to Rhode Island as being the Ocean State. Below that is a blank gap that would be part of the anchor. Below that gap is another part of the anchor with 13 stars and the number 13 in the middle of the middle star, once again recognizing Rhode Island as the 13th state to join the United States. To the left of the aforementioned gap that represents where the road ends and meets the beach, the word Hope appears on the top of the upside down anchor's left (as it is sometimes referred to) stock. Within the left stock is the word Ocean. On the upside anchor's right stock (in numbers) is the year 1790, representing the year Rhode Island became a state. Within the upside down anchor's right stock is the word State to complete the phrase Ocean State when read left to right from the upside down anchor's stock. At the bottom of the image is TM, which I was told by an attorney to include so that I can demonstrate that their is a pending registration for the trademark. |
